Unless you just want to build a sandbox, I use the 3" Michigan Maple butcher blocks from Dawn's Depot on the auction site. They come in different sizes and run from about $60 to a little over a hundred. Dense and very heavy. Use the same thing under the BHK amp with cones from Adona.
