This actions presents huge dynamic swings. From Mutter’s very soft yet nuanced violin play, ever so subtle kettle drum notes to a full on orchestral ‘blast’. It is here where the Alpha shown its colors. Over and over again, it provides more detail in the softest passages and more control in the crescendos.

On a side note, I couldn’t stop listening to this fantastic recording and performance. This rivals and probably beats my other favorite classical recording is this same price, Itzhak Perlman with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Carlo Maria Giulini conducting. EMI Abbey Roads 1980.

Great post, Craig. Sounds like the Alpha USB is starting come on "full song". Your observations are consistent with mine. Enjoy.

You also have great taste in classical music.
