My classic McIntosh injury occurred when I was installing my 501's and rearranging my other equipment to make room for them. I carefully placed the 501's on the floor about six or seven feet from where I was working so that they would be out of the way. Next thing I know, I'm falling from the bottom step of a two a step stool and cutting the base of my thumb on a 501's heatsink fins. My wife was at the hairdresser's, so after rinsing the cut and wrapping a wet paper towel around it to stop the bleeding, I went back to work rewiring things until she got home. She immediately took me to the emergency room, where it took ten stitches to close the wound. At least the 501 was unscathed!
