Tony.......The music files on the Olive 04HD are FLAC but when backed up they are in a proprietary format that does not lend itself to being useful for anything except reinstalling the files to an Olive 04HD. My McIntosh MS750 files are FLAC and can be copied to a hard drive but all of those files were ripped using the MS750 internal transport. I have no idea about the accuracy of the rips. Since the Aurender N10 is a high performance music server in every respect I want my files to be as accurate as possible to achieve the best possible playback quality. This is why I purchased and am using dBpoweramp for bit perfect rips. When I move the ripped files to the Aurender's 4TB hard drive I can rest assured the ripped copies are as good as they can be.

I am no fan of the days upon days, even weeks upon weeks of time and effort required to rip a complete CD library but with patience, diligence, and tenacity I will accomplish this chore. Being retired with lots of time on my hands is a great asset when tedious tasks like this demand extended attention.
