I have heard of Raven ribbon tweeters though, and briefly used Raven R1's as replacements for EMIT's in a pair of Infinity speakers. Like all ribbons they had their shortcomings at the top and bottom, but more so than most. They can't work down to 3kHz without lots of distortion and very compressed dynamics, and they're very directional at the top in the vertical plane. To my ears, the diamond tweeters in my 800D2's are way way ahead.

I'm very familiar with metaphor 1s as well as the proper implementation of the R1, both physically and electrically. Subjective conclusions aside, the R1 is far from dynamically compressed.
