Another, not so quick followup lol. I love my Supratek Cabernet in combination with the KT88 Firebottle or my balanced only push pull amp. I tend to use either the 14n7 or GEC b36 tubes in the preamp these days.

I am convinced that the 14n7 is the same as the incredibly expensive metal based Sylvania 6sn7wgt. The 14n7 have the same copper support rod and plates. Most importantly I think they sound better than any of the other Sylvania 6sn7, including the vaunted "bad boys." If you can run 12v tubes you should absolutely check out the 14n7.

If you can't use 12v, you can actually get an adapter that uses an external power supply. That's what I have done with my Firebottle. Well worth the little bit extra price in order to save hundreds. The 12sn7 are going up in price but they are still dramatically less expensive than the comparable 6sn7.
