I have the Ultra 5's under my Mac 601's and found they sound better than the SS. I have plenty of the SS on hand and in comparisons I felt the 5's were substantially better at doing what Stillpoints do. The amps are on maple blocks supported by Maple Shade brass footers.
Interestingly, when I had ARC Reference 250 amps in for review the Stillpoints (only tried 5's) made no difference to my ears while they improved the 601's to such a degree I felt they were close enough in sound to the ARC to not spend the extra green.
So goes this hobby.
