Talking

Finally arrived yesterday Sept 7...

This preamp works correctly. Sits level on shelf compared to first preamp received. No damage to glass faceplate.

Compared sound of built in dac vs external Rega dac and the built in dac section sounds better.

Overall compared to previous McIntosh C2300. Input rca connectors are of less build quality compared to C2300. Not huge problem as only use rca connectors for turntable. Bass seems to be more punchy. Highs smooth. Midrange seemed better on C2300. Display info panel is better on C47 than my C2300.

I did get trigger connection to work correctly with Bryston 4B cubed. Using balanced Cardas cables to power amplifier, switched gain select switch to 23db on power amplifier as it was set to 29db when using rca Cardas cables earlier with passive preamp.

Only other preamp I was going to consider was the newer Bryston B17 cubed but really wanted another McIntosh piece in system.

System plays at louder levels now without clipping lights coming on Bryston 4B cubed as with the McIntosh MC302 power guard lights flashed at same volume levels. Spec sheet Final Check Out sheet from factory shows 332 watts measured at 8 ohms and 564 measured at 4 ohms per channel. Cool to see signature from Tech More power than official 300W into 8 ohms.

Do miss seeing blue meters but happy with sound of system.

Dan
