I talked to Audio Research today about breaking in without the amps on. The sales person I talked to spoke to engineering then called me back. They said you can break in without the amps. The key is to make sure the REF40 isn't on mute.
My REF5 had 1000 hours after about a year an a half so I've decided to speed up some of the break-in. I also listen about 2-3 hours at night. I am impressed more each time I listen to it (Now at 44 hours). I can only imagine after full break-in. |
That is how I am breaking in my Ref 5 right now, seems to be working. 400 hours on it and doing some pretty incredible stuff.
