The S1 caveat: their room did not permit requests, so I couldn't test the S1's performance on such regular-guy headbanger music. If their bass dynamics hold up when I finally get to test this, I fear I will need to buy a pair.

I am with you. The S1 were amazing. To my ears, in a completely different league than the Carmel. I believe Magico will sell a ton of them, I hope the waiting list will not be too long.
