Funny you should mention speaker placement.
I was always advised to pull them as far out from the rear wall as possible and give at least 3ft from the side walls.
When the contractor (Michael) started to place the acoustic panels on walls and ceiling, he placed them somewhere I would have never thought to.
He did his placement calculations on his software and that was where they went.
In truth, going from an open space to a dedicated room and treated room will yield tremendous gains regardless.
I've had no inclination to start playing around with their positions as the overall sounds in beyond expectations.
