Balanced Vs. Unbalanced Cable For Subwoofer
I am ready to work hard to integrate my dual F113 JL Audio Fathoms into my system. I've decided to position each sub on the outside of my speakers, requiring a longer signal cable.
I always assumed I'd want a pair of Balanced cables for the sub.
Until...a couple of months ago I sent an email to Barry Ober at JL Audio clarifying a few questions I had for setup, and what he sent back surprised me.
Barry's recommendation was for me to connect the Fathoms using RCA's over XLR cables.
I brought this up to a wireworld employee this afternoon as I had a few questions about their lines. He recalled that Barry directed Wireworld to setup JL Fathoms using RCA's over XLR's in a demo room they were collaborating on.
I sent a message to Barry this afternoon, asking for his clarification as to why the RCA is his preferred connection for the Fathoms.
I'll be happy to share what he says, but I certainly wanted AA feedback, particularly those who are running Fathoms in your setup.
