Default Revel Voice 2 .... 24" of Heaven

The Salon 2's and Studio 2's get covered in a lot of discussions - Arguably they are on most folks short lists at their price points - Both are wonderful speakers - In a stereo system they are among the best - Home Theater on the other hand adds considerations beyond two channel .... the towers must pair well with a center channel

Back when I first got my Salons I demo'd all the available top manufacturers - There were some incredible towers by all the usual top players but at that time most of the center channels were disappointing - A lot were almost like an after thought - They made spoken voices "boxy" and movie effects artificial - Others were so wide it wasn't practical to place them in my system - A three foot wide center channel seemed like a lackluster engineering attempt to compensate for poor imaging - The Revel Voice 2 was the only channel at that time who combined seamlessly with their towers - The Salons already have a room filling quality and adding the center blended into the sound stage for a completely unified audio image field - Icing on the cake was the Voice is only 25" wide and 15" high - The right center size footprint and the right audio match for the towers is the winning combination

Now six years later the itch is back to try something new in my system - With great enthusiasm I've made the rounds of audio shops and I'm reminded more and more of why I was originally drawn to the Revels - In fact the only speaker system that is coming close are the Wilsons - The Sasha 2 towers are great and the Mezzo center channel is excellent (only 30" wide) - The cost of Wilson speakers is another story - As my wife pointed out I better really love a speaker at that price point as I will be sleeping in the theater room with them for a loooooooong time

All things considered I will be happily staying with my Salon & Voice combo ... maybe with a new car
