It is true there are bad independents as well as good ones. However, with an independent at least you have the possibility of good or great sound. I have never been in a magnolia that made good sound - they basically can't - all the ones I've visited have bad fundamentals - meaning bad sounding rooms. If the room is bad - it is basically over before it began.
