I don't think you have anything to be concerned about, since the current US standard also uses pin 2 as HOT. You can see the current standard and a discussion about the issue
here (under the "Technical usage information" heading), which clearly states "The pin 3 "hot" convention is now obsolete but is still found on vintage equipment." Hope this helps!
