The family farm of approx. 50 acres had at one time 20 Charolais cattle -- but normal herd was 10-12. Used primarily for breeding & selling & some kept the freezers full.
Sold 'em all a few years back when they were getting too feisty and finding ways to get out of the barbed wire fencing after storms -- trees felled and thus opening a way for them to escape. (My father-in-law's passing meant myself and my wife -- living 90 miles away and my wife's brother, who lived next door to the farm, tended to them -- he visited daily feeding 'em the good sweet stuff now and then as a treat, but being handicapped, he couldn't maintain the fencing & necessary upkeep on a daily basis).
We were really worried a 2,000 pounder roaming along the back roads would cause an accident and get someone hurt or worse. It didn't help them any after receiving a couple sheriff calls late at night. That sealed their fate.
Great memories of them -- especially newborns.
