I will depend on how your house was wired in the first place. Some people will find that there are dimmers, florescent lights, things with motors (refrigerators, AC units) possibly on the same circuit as their gear. Not having anything else the circuit should remove background noise. Also, depending on draw of your amps and other equipment you could be restricting the power they see to run at optimal levels.
