this is not only my opinion: the pre is a center fro a system: a lot of musik player are "pre inside" BUT 100% with a good pre ypou go listen muh more detais and what for a control!
Now I have a Lumin S1 with monos Pass xa160.8: whitout prampli sound at the 50% versus ith pre!
the Linn is a great (for me the best price/perfomance) and my friend with the DSM3 (last version) + Nat Transmitter mono tube ampli, Magico S5 2x sub Wilsno B. Torus sub. sound good...but with the Octave Hp700 preampli is amazing!!!!
your sdet S250, linn, go with a pre like Octave (not Audio research please!)
or others tube pre. of corse a preampli not tube is too a valid set .. try if you can do it.
