I’ve never done them independently. I’ll shut down a component, pull it out of the rack, then clean the metal parts of the component and connecting cables. After doing my entire system, I think I hear a subtle improvement.
The improvement will depend on how much corrosion has been removed. The more regular the cleaning, the less one will hear.
I should point out that I tend to apply Deoxit’s Gold contact enhancer after cleaning.
