Some years ago when I was listening to the MC275MkV I decided to try the MC2102. Frank Gow (may he RIP) was who I dealt with. He said I would not like the MC2102. I insisted, so he said to simply set the MC275 aside while I tried the MC2102. I kept it for a few weeks and rolled a few different sets of tubes thru it. In the end, it was no comparison for me. The MC2102 went back and the MC275 took its rightful place back in my system. Your mileage may vary, but to my ears, the only McIntosh tube amp to beat the MC275 is a pair of MC75s.
Did try a pair of MC275s as monoblocks, but found the single MC275 to sound better to my ears.
