I owned the R1 Mk2 speakers for quite a while, easily qualifies as one of the best speakers in the world.
They need room to breathe, proper placememt and audiophile grade cables and they do sound amazing.
As far as TAD Reference electronics,..have heard the monos, pre, and CD/SACD components multiple times. While I prefer the Esoteric line sonic signature, I would suggest they still rank up there as a top choice in the sonic family of other great product lines. They need proper racks & footers, (except the monos that have them built in), proper placement and audiophile grade cabling to sound up to their potential.
I cannot speak for the component you purchased however.
