Default The Analog Room

I'll start a new thread on my "analog room" since most of the gear has been selected and is already in place. I thought it would be fun to add updates to this thread as changes develop.

Today I started laying out the groundwork for room acoustics. I borrowed some ASC bass traps and smart panels from my theater (I have an abundance of those ).

After some experimentation with 4 bass traps, 2 half rounds and some smart panels, the room quickly transformed into what I expect to hear. Amazing what just a few well designed acoustic products can do to your system. These amount to probably less than $2k, I don't remember off the top of my head the exact prices. The end result is better than a $20k upgrade in the system itself.

Here is a video of a "bare" room. You can clearly hear the reverb and overall hardening and "glassiness" of sound.

Here is a video from today with just a sprinkle of acoustic treatments in place. No more reverb, smooth, natural sound. Of course the iphone can not capture the quality of sound very well and the compressed youtube video doesn't help but pay attention to the lack of reverb and hardness!

One more showing my genius at work. Did you notice what device is holding up a smart panel on the back wall? But the system is sounding seriously good right now.
