I've had quite a few good DAC's here sitting side-by-side over the years, quite often it can be difficult to reliably pick one from the other. All of those I put in the Hi-Fi category. However, I can pick the Foundation every time when being used for 2ch. There is no confusing it from any of my other DAC's. So it copped the Mid-Fi label (relative to the others). Mine is an original non-4K, and I've owned it longer than any other processor (Parasound Halo, Halcro SSP, Yamaha etc).
