In my humble opinion the new design looks very cool. I have the luck to own one and love it for being equally awasome on musics and on movies!
Regarding to your post, you are right, input 1,4,7 are for the left front, center and right front speakers/meters. The layout of the terminals a bit different from the MC207 though, the left front and center speaker inputs are on the amplifier’s left side in one group. This is the only thing I liked better on the previous model (ie. center placed center input in the backplate), but I assume it has something to do with the background of the additional power capacity, Ivan mentioned earlier.
