Post Gaining a basic understanding of DACs

W9TR..... So, assuming that I'm understanding you correctly, a "universal" player -- like the Oppo UDP-203 -- has the circuitry on board to decode both the PCM and the DSD formats you mentioned...Is that correct?

By the way, I have a line on an Oppo UDP-203 that I'm told is in great shape. Given my research, the price is fair, so we're seriously considering it as the new (to us) DAC source for our Mac MX130/MC300 stereo setup.

Considering that you know a lot more about DACs, obviously, than I do, I'd appreciate any other thoughts you might have on the -203.

Have a great day
