I'm going to try the battery trick I think, that seems to be the only way to know for sure. To do that I'll have to take the back off again, since I won't be able to tell if the woofer is moving forward or backward without putting my finger on the back of the paper woofer.
The "+" looks too perfect to be hand drawn in my opinion, on both. Unless the previous owner put them there with a ruler or something. I can also see how it looks like a "+" symbol etched in the left but it's really just a slash from what I can tell.
