If you are considering amps other than class A/B; you could check out the PS Audio Stellar Monoblocks which are class D. They drive our Thiel CS 3.6 speakers which have low impedance, but I don't think they have a difficult phase angle anywhere. We also don't turn up the volume too loud, so maybe we haven't had any problems because we aren't pushing the amps hard.
I have a review/experience post on the Stellars in this forum. In short, they sound great for their price; and I wouldn't know they were class D by hearing them.
In case you didn't know, Ivan is a PS Audio dealer; so you could easily try out the Stellars from him.
