No space for the stands in my living room... they would have blocked two of the four media cabinets, and projected too far into the room. I actually selected the Duettes specifically because they were designed for "hostile" environments, i.e., placement in less-than-ideal locations. In my case it's far from hostile... roughly 30" from the ground, vertically very close to ear level when seated. They are farther apart than I would like, given my seating position, but aesthetics must play a part as well. And I eventually plan to upgrade my audio processor to one with RoomPerfect room correction (McIntosh MX150) which should help alleviate those issues (which are minor, imo).
