On almost all my speakers, I got huge improvement in the bass response by replacing the spikes with bearing footers. I use the Pro Audio Bono ones. Maybe you could try them or StillPoints.
These bearings make the bass much cleaner and unboomy.
That will surely not solve all your problems but that is a good start to get a bass as clean as possible.
ESL speakers, full range or hybrid are always pretty touchy to set up. Patience is highly needed.

I just bought some cord management thingies
and plan on doing that this week. Those wires are killing me lol..and killing the look! Going to hang something right above the console there above the components. And planning on some diffusers behind the speakers.
