No "Loudness War" Here: Roon, Classical Music and Dynamic Range
One of the nice things about Roon is it will show the dynamic range of a recording under the album photo.
While I was pleased to see DRs of 8 or 9 for jazz recordings, I did a lot of CD ripping using XLD the last two days to update my classical music collection in Roon. Some of these recordings have very impressive dynamic range, but this one might top the charts for what I've seen in my catalog so far: 19!
For a 16/44 Redbook CD of Mendelssohn's Scottish and Italian Symphonies by The Academy.
Impressive figures when you have recordings not compressed all to hell by the "loudness wars"
