If I have to step down a model does anyone know which one sounds better ie the MCD500 vs MCD550? I don't need any USB. Just straight CD player. What I like is the ability to use the volume control with no pre-amp. Currently run it straight into my Pass Labs crossover.

I've never seen the MCD550 but have been very happy with MCD500 for the last 5-6 years
