In all seriousness this device may benefit certain cartridges.

Every modern cartridge suspension is made from a synthetic rubber material. The chemical composition and physical properties of these elastomeric materials varies widely.

Cartridge manufacturers don’t divulge what materials they are using as part of their ‘secret sauce’.

So some of the physical properties of these materials may be temperature sensitive in a way that impacts the sound of the cartridge. Who knows?

Tom

P.S. You could use a small halogen lamp (carefully) to warm the cartridge in the same way.
