Turns out my ears are not tuned to be sensitive enough to hear jitter within the "normal and expected" range of a quality built but not necessarily exuberantly priced DACs, ( 2us range) . 
So I simply spend the time and effort on listening to my favorite music instead of chasing absolutes.
