I actually fashioned a 25oz weight that I could safely center on my TT platter. It did settle a bit but I agree that it shouldn't "bottom out" the springs.
The interesting thing though is that the Oracle comes with different sets of springs that are used depending on your tonearm. It seems that this might throw off that dynamic. We'll find out. I will also call Oracle tomorrow and get their take on using a heavy clamp.
