Am sure it is quite different from 50yr ago when I was there with a reciever, TT & a pair of large Advents. These small JBLs get a couple of good reviews and seem to fit the bill as a good place to start. Not much $$ and can always upgrade. Anyone heard them or tried anything similar?

I remember the days when we would lug around Jensen speakers and hook up to the guy down the hall who had a nice Marantz receiver and Garrard TT. Then I got an Ampex cassette player and you didn't have to worry about dozing off and getting up to turn the LP over.
