Nicely written and well thought out post.
I had a Pathos Inpol2 integrated amp which sounded wonderful, all 50 class A watts per channel it dished out.
I see McIntosh, Accuphase, Luxman, Levinson and many others with integrated amplifiers. I am not sure these are “lifestyle “ products but I get your point about size and efficiency being synonymous with sound quality.
