Paul.......For those who have followed my recording studio adventure from 2005 when I built the two room plus half bath addition to my home, it is easy to watch the transition that the studio side opposite the control room side has gone through. When first built and wired the studio side was strictly conceived as a live microphone recording room. All walls are wired with balanced jacks back to the control room side for microphones and headphones. The front two JBL LSR6332 3-way monitors up on the wall were for studio playback of what had been recorded. Initially there was no television in this room. Then I added a smaller widescreen TV just to have one in the room, no surround sound, just the TV. The room was filled with guitar amplifiers and speaker cabinets, guitars and microphones everywhere.

For the first few years after I retired I used the recording studio exclusively for recording live music. After a few years of doing that I gradually did less and less to the point of adding a modest two channel sound system. Then I bought the larger widescreen and added a surround sound system in the room as the studio morphed from a place where live recording was being performed to a place just to hang out, listen to music and watch movies. The rest is history as the transition continued over the next seven years to what you see today. I said that to let you know the widescreen was in place well before I began to build the sound system to the level it is today. Consequently I have to work with what I have in place. So far so good.
