I think a lot will depend on your priorities and what problems you're trying to address: voltage regulation, dynamic/transient response, noise reduction, surge protection, affordability. I have a 20 amp dedicated line and a whole house surge protector. This was step 1, basic and inexpensive. Voltage variability is not a significant problem here. I chose a Niagra 5000 with Hurricane PCs. Good investment - tremendous increase in dynamics, decrease in noise (you don't realize how much until it's gone).
