Porsche enjoys the highest profit margins in the industry. Even Ferrari lags... Industry standard is 3-4% and Porsche enjoys over 15%. Build a fanatical base of fans, charge more every year and watch them get their panties up in a bunch and whine when they can't get the artificially limited run of certain models.
The phenomenon is based on the mass hysteria of the fan forums that infect each other with "enthusiasm" and "lust" for products that are over priced and completely unnecessary for street driving. Sound familiar? It's everywhere with every interest and hobby and the internet is an excellent tool for fueling the flames of insanity.
