Default New Air Conditioner injecting EMI/RFI noise into household power lines

Jeff - if you have a 5 speed system you have a Greenspeed system with a VFD.

Dan - we used to design in VFD’s to run chillers and fans in big building HVAC systems. Think 600 HP 480V 3 phase AC motors. Big enough to ride.

The advantages of variable speed compressors are many. In residential HVAC you size the system for the hottest days, but that is overkill most of the time. So having a lower or variable speed compressor allows you to tailor the amount of cooling you need. Ideally long run times at low capacity remove the most humidity and create the best comfort experience - low humidity and moderate indoor temperatures.

Looks like Carrier Residential did not a talk to their commercial brothers.
