Think you are making a good choice. I've always had good service with Celestron and my brother & cousin are both happy with their Meade gear.
When you talk to whomever you are buying from, tell them what you think you want to end up with to insure you don't purchase a model that cannot be easily upgraded. I'm not into the bells & whistles (photography, etc.), so am limited help there.
