I totally agree with the start of this post concern. I was an owner of the first round of futuras myself. Red Violin with the shiny top. Never been a fan of the red color and the chrone top is a dog to maintain. The glossy finish in the wood has never been a problem, so I'd hadve no concerns on the piano black, walnut or graphity with the black top. Not sure all these combinations exists.
Sound wise, i miss the futuras a lot. terrific speakers!
