Yes, that is true. They do get better over time. I bought my 7Ts in May of 2012. At first they really did not seem much better than the PSB Synchrony One speakers they replaced. But as time went on, they got better and better. Now I am just amazed at how well they sound, how precise the soundstage is, and all the other adjectives.
Generally I listen to string quartet type classical, or female jazz singers, and they are superb. However, they can also rock. I was cranking the amps (Pass Labs X600.5) one night and was sitting there mouth open just amazed at how good they sounded while playing SO LOUD. Then, bam, the sound of silence. I tripped the breaker of the Shunyata Triton. I am surprised the speakers didn't melt. I don't do that often, but it is good to know they can rock.
