When used with the Lumin U1, you can try the USB output (up to DSD128) or coaxial output (up to DSD64) and see which sounds better to you. When you use the coaxial output, the USB has to be disconnected first.

Very interesting, never thought it might be parameters set by the chip manufacturer. Currently I'm using AES/EBU to the Levinson's DAC and coax to the KO1x's DAC when streaming from the Lumin. The lumin and KO1x are not compatible for DSD on any input. Esoteric has only developed drivers for use with computer (windows, mac) based streaming. Levinson told me they do not intend to issue drivers for the 585 however the 5805 (newer, better DAC) will do DSD from a Lumin streamer.
