I am looking into the electronic (insertable) ear plugs, they allow one to actually hear the trap release when shooting clays.
Find the better quality foam plugs very effective for rimfire rifle, sporting clays & mowing, etc.

For BPCR & high power competition I have a set of custom fitted silicone rubber 'plugs' that are similar to the foam plugs, but heavy/dense and sort of 'screw' into the ear canal that are both quite comfortable and very effective. If I shot in competitions that allowed muzzle-brakes I would add a pair of the electronic muffs on top.
