not sure why they did that Dan...if this thing sounds good, it may be a nice anchor for a secondary system (or even for anyone thinking of downsizing from separates). All you would need is a transport (PC/music server/CDP) and a set of speakers and you have a nice little sytem. I am going to see if my dealer can get a demo unit for me to listen to.
