Interesting concept. It seems like some other manufacturers use rear firing drivers and some on the side as well.
I have seen a Bose demo once. At the end of the clip, they removed large dummy speakers to reveal speakers about the size of 2" cubes and you were supposed to be amazed at the true size of the speaker. They used a sub and it sounded like small speakers with a sub.
It would be interesting to hear these larger stand mounted speakers.
