I never really considered my MDA-300's dark. They had a grip on the bottom end like almost nothing else and I thought them to be very detailed ... maybe with a touch of grain but extremely detailed. I enjoyed them for many years! I now have MC-601's which have neither the bottom end grip of the Krell or the extreme detail but for me does sound more musical. That said I paired them with a Mark Levinson No326 and the pairing works well together!
