Your Meridian Explorer 2 DAC is able to do both the MQA decoding (the first unfolding) and the final rendering in the DAC hardware. Your DAC only needs a server that can store MQA encoded files. Your N100H and other Aurender models do have the ability to store MQA encoded files as they are no different than other FLAC type files. Other DACs, like my Berkeley Reference Series MQA DAC only have the ability to do the final DAC reendering step. It does not do the “Core Decoding Engine” function (first unfolding). This latest firmware upgrade for the N10 (and I suspect other Aurender models) will now provide the “Core Decoding Engine” functionality required by DACs that do not have the decoding engine functionality. Hope this helps....Jim
