My opinion is high-end great sounding DACs don't need to cost more than a car.

Why do you think that the definition of high-end is any different in the crazy hobby of our than in watches, cars, wines, motorcycles.........???
I can't define where the line in the sand is for anyone but myself when it comes to purchasing audio gear. I do know that the high end in this hobby seems to be increasing prices faster than just about anything else I can think of and it is probably pricing me out of many upgrades.
